Not sure why there are so many negative reviews, but disclaimer: I'm American and this is the only theater I've been to in CPH. Snack area: it was incredibly large with anything and everything one could possibly want think the snack section of Netto , unlike the American concessions that consist of a few shelves and whatever's behind the counter. The popcorn prices are fair 49kr for a large that can be split between 3 starving college students. Not where you'd go for Indie films, but they've got stuff like Bad Moms, Thor, Star Wars, etc. Seating: there is plenty of leg space, which is something Americans aren't used to. The seats are comfy and recline just enough that you're not a public nuisance. Definitely would come back, if not for the movie, then at least for the adjacent mall that's quite fun to explore with a group of friends! It's an average multiplex. The lines for snacks can get long although they do have a decent selection for candy as well as beer. Many Copenhageners will end up coming here because it houses the only IMAX theater in the area for major films. The bathrooms are clean, the chairs are comfy, and there are self-service kiosks so you don't have to talk to anyone to get your ticket. The location is great; right on the water, close to the meatpacking district where you can get some good grub before the movie, and is easy to get to from Islands Brygge and Amager by a small bridge. You can also browse around the mall before or after the film. I actually don't know how I often end up here lately when it comes to watching film. Palads was my to go place back then when I was still living next to 5A bus line, but somehow my friends always invited me to go see a movie at Cinemaxx. This cinema is pretty much on the standard side. Sure they have big and many studios, very convenient if you want to watch a particular film that you have missed on other theatres, but do avoid the teenage crowd if you can. Somehow, this place has become the hang-out place for screaming teens fan-girling over their favourite actors. I know that I was probably guilty of the same charge back in my younger days, but these days, I really want to go where only adults go. Service is nice - a couple of times when one of our friends are running late, the girls on the ticket service is always good about letting our friend coming in later, so I can't really complain about that. Popcorn and snacks are pretty standard otherwise. The only plus side is probably because it's next to a mall - when the teen crowd get too intense, you could escape to the mall for awhile big chance that you would meet more screaming teen crowd though :S A modern cinema inside the Fisketorvet shopping mall. They show some movies with IMAX, but haven't tried those yet. Pluses for: + decent selection, you can find most common movies here + comfy seats with proper leg space + self-service machines to buy tickets, so no need to queue for cashier + own entrance from outside so no need to walk through the shopping mall + big candy selection Minuses: - toilets smell of urine every time. Don't know what's wrong with their bathroom but it's gross! For watching movies my favorite place is Palads, but somehow we end up visiting this place for some movies. It sure does help when you or your friends have a chance to win something along with watching movies. Although they so have tons of sizes for cola. There's a place in Stockholm called Heron City, I get the same vibe from Cinemaxx as I get when I'm at Heron. A deserted zombie mall vibe, it's just not cozy at all. Concrete floors and randomly scattered furniture. One time I was here late at night I love going to daytime or really late cinema and I couldn't find my way out plus there was no staff in sight. So, to the technicalities. Last time I was here I watched Guardians of the Galaxy in 7. The sound was way too low and it feels like it is mostly coming from the screen itself, compare this to Imperial my favourite theater in town where Dolby Atmos makes you totally immersed in sound, in a very good way. That does not happen here. Lately, the only reason I'm here is if Imperial stopped showing the movie and I still want ok sound. BUT I will change this behavior and go to another movie theater instead, a theater that makes you feel more welcome.
